Amazing Future Trips!

Well I have not blogged for a while so I thought I should throw something up.  But what to talk about?  sometimes it’s so difficult to limit down my list of topics to just one.  So here I go.

I’m going to Dubai soon.  Finally.  So a friend of mine text me and said “I found a flight to DXB for $841”.  We could not pass this up.  The catch is that the flight is from Houston (IAH).  DXB is about $16,577 miles from IAH.  I get 100% bonus miles, so i’ll be earning a total of about 33,000 miles.  Now I have to get to Houston.  OUCH!  That will be another 3,748 miles.  However right now the cost to go from SEA-IAH is just a bit less than IAH-DXB.  So i’m just waiting the fares out for a bit.  Although this trip will be a vacation in itself, it was developed on the premise of a Mileage Run.  You cannot beat the amount of miles per cost.  Assuming we’ll get a cheap ticket to IAH.

Our planned visits will be Doha, Dubai, possibly Abu Dhabi and/or Muscat.  We have not solidified our plans yet but they are in the works.

What are we doing now in the planning process?  Well the three of us have set our plans up on Tripit.com.  We have shared our trips so we all know what the plans are and the differences.  I’m flying a different airline than they are due to different Alliances.

We are researching what is ok, and what is not.  For example; EU (United Arab Emerites) has very strict policies on medication.  Bringing the wrong medication in without the appropriate documents etc can land you in jail.  out of the three of us, i take the most medication.  I will not be allowed to bring a couple of the medications as they are on the not allowed list.  One of the three of us takes Ritlin.  Ritlin is on that list.  So he is going through the process of obtaining the appropriate documentation and authorization to bring his medication.  Failure to do so may end up with an extended stay.

We are researching some of the laws.  Especially alcohol laws.  We have friends who have visited there, lived there and worked in that area.  They have been a great source of information.  We also use internet, searching sites for more information.
