Mazatlan Cut Short.  Very Short

This was the start of our European vacation.  We flew from LAX-MZT.  We planned on spending close to 48 hour, ok more like maybe 36 hours.  It ended up being more like 16 hours thanks to Volaris.  This was a repositioning trip from LAX to MEX, via MZT.

Our flight was to land around 12:30pm.  It was delayed and we landed closer to 4:30pm.  Up to this point, we had no intentions of renting a car.  However, upon landing we realized there were no Ubers/Lyfts and Taxi’s were a long wait.  So we decided to rent a car last minute.  This ended up being a bigger chore than expected.

We quickly made a reservation and walked to the rental car counter.  For some unknown reason, it took numerous people an hour to get our reservation and process the paperwork.  This, had us leaving the airport around 5:30pm.

We arrived at our hotel, Courtyard by Marriott Mazatlan Beach Resort.  Stepping into the hotel was amazing.  This was the nicest Courtyard I had been in.  We checked in and headed to our room walking into the room around 6:00pm.

We were given the “Suite”.  It was located on the very end of the walkway and faced the ocean.  The view was amazing.  We quickly decided to drive to downtown and get dinner.

We parked the car and walked along the ocean front and then into the downtown area.  It was beautiful and quiet.  It was Wednesday evening.  After walking around a bit we sat at a bar on the beach for a beer.

As an Av-geek I opened up my Flightradar24 App to see how many flights there are to Mazatlan.  In looking at the list of flights, I noticed our flight we were origionaly booked on was not listed.  I asked my partner and he said “WHAT?”  He opened his Volaris App and noticed that Volaris re-booked us on a flight for Saturday morning, from a Thursday evening 11:00PM flight..  We were flying out of Mexico City Friday Morning at 10:00AM.  This prompted, a chat with Volaris.  Long story short, We ended up calling Volaris at 11:30PM.  They were only able to get us on an 6:00AM flight the following day Thursday.  This cut short our trip by more than 12 hours.  After complaining to Volaris, they offered each of us $25 vouchers for our troubles.  Can you say Joke Airline?

We decided beer was not sufficient enough.  So we found a restaurant and ordered dinner.
