Our plans were constantly changing and we arrived Venice 16 hours earlier than we had origionally planned. A 9:00pm arrival into the train station, meant we now needed to figure out how to get to Murano Island to our hotel. This ended up being at least another hour or so.
We were told over and over Vencie would be busy and don’t stay on any other island. We ignored all the advice, and we were glad we did. We stayed at the Hyatt Centric on Murano Island. During the day, this was a 1/2 hour trip or less from our hotel to Vencie. But during the night it was more than an hour.

The Hyatt Centric was a beautiful hotel right on the water. Initially we booked one room for 2 people but realized we should book another room. The front desk manager accomodated us via email correspondence and we used our points.
Upont entering our rooms my partner and I had a standard room while his parents had a two story room with steep steps. We offered to trade which they did so gratefully. At check-in we asked about food and well as you will read below, Murano Island closes early. We ordered room service. This being our first time in Italy, we wanted Italian food. So we ordered one of each on the menu.

Murano Island is known for its glass-making. It is a very quiet island not connected to Vencie Island and has its own charm and character. Restaurants and Cafe’s are limited on the island, and the few that are there close early around 5:00pm. It will almost be impossible to find something that is open past that time unless it’s in your hotel. But we found a nice little Coffee shop that opened at 8:00am called Trattoria Valmarana. In the afternoon it was a restaurant.

We loved Murano Island. We loved being away from the chaos and crowds. The simple charm and small town feeling gave it a special character.
The following day, we made our way to Vencie. My first impression was, “ITS TOO CROWDED.” Everything was crowded. The streets, the shops, the walkways, the venues, the Taxi boats. I would say the crowds were the biggest drawback for me.
I always thought Vencie was a Honey moon destination. But now it seemed like it was more like a family destination. I’ve tried to not post the crowds and only post sights.

While in Vencie, we explored churches, squares, little walk ways, bridges and many other things. We made a bit circle trying to catch what we could in that one day. The following day we were off early for our train to Napoli.

From a gastronomic point of view there were multiple options of food. Although we did not see it, there was a McDonalds. We decided to let our eyes and noses choose the restaurant.

Although I cannot remember the names where we ate for most places, I will share one restaurant I would recommend. Vetri Restaurant located at, Fondamenta Marco Guistinian 1, 3014 Venezia VE Italy. This is located on Murano Island and is very close to the Hyatt Centric. We only ordered desserts, coffees and drinks as we were full from eating earlier. But what we saw come out to other tables made us want to come back.

I think Vencie is overrated. The food was amazing. If i was to come back, I would definitely stay on Murano Island again. Just plan for at least a 30-minute boat taxi to Venice. Prepare to be tranquil and relaxed.
