Jakarta favorites

On a quick weekend trip to Jakarta, my friend I was visiting made reservations to Aged + Butchered. A 4.8 start rated restaurant on Google and located in Jakarta.

The atmosphere was dim walking down a long corridor. With our reservation set, we were able to be seated on time at a table for four. The middle of the table included a gas grill. Upon being sat, a set of silverware was placed at our table along with a selection of salt.

Our meal started with an oyster shooter, wedge salad and fried cauliflower. To say anything less about the wedge salad, it’s the best i have ever had. I am not a red nor a pink meat eating individual but the skirt steak that accompanied the wedge salad was the best of the night.

Although i was expecting an environment similar to a higher-class steak restaurant, this place resembled a mixture of experiences. The service and food were outstanding. some of the accompaniments were served interestingly questioning whether I was at a fast food or top scale restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, the place was amazing.

A lychee martini in which I could not help drinking in a manner to last during the meal went down quickly.

We started off with a USDA Prime Fillet Mignon from Okanogan Valley in WA stats USA (which happens to be my state) and an A5 Wagyu cut (Sorry I do not remember which one we selected). The Fillet was the lowest on the list of our favorites of the night. The A5 was near the top with the Wedge skirt steak the highest.

The cooking of the steak was more like a show that comes with your meal. We were split on our cooking style of meat with my friend preferring medium rare and I preferring medium well. The chef was able to cook both to each of our liking.

The meal was amazing. Each salt was a different unique experience sampled with each cut of beef. It didn’t seem as though we ate much food, but after finishing the beef, we were both beyond the limit of our stomach. However, we both felt we could not leave without trying a dessert. So, the Banana’s Foster was ordered.

This was also a culinary experience as the bananas and the cream was created right in front of us.

My experience at this restaurant was amazing. I highly recommend it. Bring your hunger and an empty stomach. My only regret is coming with only one person. Bringing more people would increase the opportunity to experience more cuts of beef.
