I received my AA upgrade into business class for my LAX-NRT leg of my flight. It arrived 72 hours before my flight.
Well it arrived in the form of what appeared to be an “Error” on my reservation. I guess this is AA’s way of telling me to call the EP desk. So i called and was informed that my upgrade was confirmed. She selected my seat and it was done.
3:00AM Thanks AA for calling me and awaking me to inform me my LAX-NRT will be 2 hours LATE. Did I really need to know that in the middle of my sleep?
I arrived at the airport at 5:15AM. Pre-Check, tram and North Terminal here I am.
My flight started boarding early. I hate that. I show up with coffee and a fruit cup watching a HUGE line of Economy class people slowly walking up to the boarding door. I walk up in the “First Class” line holding my food in a rush, looking frazzled. The gate agent noticed my arrival, held the line and allowed me to board. The looks of the Economy people just made me feel bad…. (Not really but thought i’d show SOME empathy..)
The interior of the new Boeing 737 NEO. I love the light blue lighting.
I can do without the Recaro seats. I don’t think they are that comfortable however they are not BAD. I do love the backs of the seats with the extra leg room and the magazine rack up on top. Exit row is one of my favorite with the additional mile of leg room.

I have to put a cheesy photo of myself on here right?
Breakfast of Champions.
Coffee, Egg/Bean bowl with a Bloody Mary…. yes it really is 6:45 AM.
The arrival into LAX was normal. I hopped onto the shuttle to the AA terminal (4) from the AS terminal (6). Found the Admirals Club and checked in.

The agent at the help desk in the Admirals lounge assisted with my flight delay. I would have definitely missed my connection in NRT. I was rebooked onto Cathay Pacific flight direct to HKG. Business Class! This is a score and I was excited. Better airline and in Business Class still. I also get in 4 hours earlier. I was informed however that i would have to exit security and walk over to Tom Bradley International Terminal, Check in and go through security again. Oh well. no biggie for a better airline.
My happiness stopped when I checked the length of my flight. I just went from a non-stop 10 hour flight to a nonstop 14.20 hour flight. WTF? Ouch… At Least i’m in Business class.
The View… from the Admirals club lounge. …. erm I mean the “Flag Ship Lounge.” I forgot i was in the first class lounge and not the “Regular” lounge…. he he he.
While checking into Cathay Pacific, they had me down one level on my status. I asked her to reconfirm that and showed her my card. She called AA and double checked and did reconfirm that I was Emerald and not just Sapphire. Not that big of a deal except it gives me access to the First Class lounge over the Business class lounge. A HUGE difference.
The food was quite amazing and healthy. I did stick to my diet, for the most part.
