I did not sleep well last night. But the View was amazing!

After a quick shower and breakfast we jouney’d out around our hotel area. We are staying near the Marina. It’s quite the little city in itself and has a man made cavern of water linking all of the buildings and hotels. I’ve also included some style and intrigue into my photo’s.

It is UAE’s 42 Birthday and it’s being celebrated like crazy here.
After getting all spiffied up we set about on our Journey to the Burj Al Arab. It was quite embarrassing arriving by TAXI and not a town car. I have cheap friends!

The next few photo’s are self Explanatory. Let’s just say I have marked off an item from my bucket list. I was amazed and in awe..

Our check in desk to AL MAHARA for afternoon Tea.

Dancing Water fall. The water looked like fish jumping!
Our View for Tea.
Our table for Tea.
It started off with Dates. Who ate them? Nobody!
This is the menu.
Yes this is the price per person. Divide by 3.64. Yes… OUCH!
Champagne starter!
A Fruit tart! OMG it was good!
A beef tenderloin with mustard cream sauce and potatoes with Green stuff on the top! See how sophisticated I am. Green stuff!
Then we had Sandwiches
And then the dessert tray. We should have just skipped to Desserts. OMG They were so good. Best Crumpets ever!
We finished off with a lemon Sorbet with a frozen rose petal.
And was given a to go box gift of chocolate!
More photo’s;
Proof that I was actually there!

Now we left and wanted to walk around. So we left and walked past the security gate near the road. We tried to get a cab and it was impossible. We stood in line for the Water Park cab line for about 25 minutes. We were impatient. I then asked the gate guard if we could go back in to get a cab and with the limited English skills he had it was quite confusing. At this point we had been trying for near and hour to get a cab and we were all hot and frustrated. I walked past the gate called my friends and continued to the Burj Al Arab. Once there I asked for a cab. Two cab’s left without passengers. We finally got a cab and got in. He moved 10 ft and in No English at all said “I can’t start the meter. You need to get into the cab behind us.” It had passengers we tried to explain. He wouldn’t move! I expressed in my most calm, sweet, stubborn Erik self…. “We paid 20 Dirahm to get here. We’ll pay you 35 to take us back. We are NOT GETTING OUT OF THIS CAB so you better start moving.” He was quite worried and pissed the whole 15 minutes back. I assume he didn’t like me!
A quick Nap was in order and then a change of clothes.
Yes Everyone needs a selfie in a foreign country right?
We then headed towards Burj Khalifa. My second check off on my Bucket list! I was giddy on this one! WOW!
The Elevator takes about 60 seconds to go 124 floors. That is FAST!

We arrived to floor 124 in about 60 seconds. it was FAST!
This is about when I realized my Iphone sucks for taking photo’s.

It’s taking FOREVER to upload so i’m going to publish and add my photo’s later.
These are later posted photo’s.
After our journey up the tower we went to dinner.

This is my new favorite drink. Lemon tea! Yes that is Lemon sherbet.
