Dubai IV (Doha)

So to back up a bit.  I had an incident last night on my arrival to my hotel at 1:30 AM.  My taxi could not get into the drop off area of the hotel.  Security would not let it in because he was a Taxi!  I even told the security guy that I’m a guest and he said “Get out here.”  Of course that didn’t sit well with me and made me very unhappy.  I got my suit cases and walked towards the door of the hotel.  obviously multiple staff members noticed this and offered me help with a very curt response from me.  I checked in at the front desk informing them of my unhappiness and asked the hotel manager to give me a call.

Upon walking into my room i was amazed at the room we got.  the “WOW” room.  WOW!

I received my phone call from the manager soon after reaching my room.  I expressed my frustration and disappointment and explained why.  He offered me two drinks on the house, stated he would look into it and asked if we could meet tomorrow after I wake up.  I agreed waited for my drinks and then went to bed. 

I woke up 6:00 AM local time.  took in the view;

After showering we all went down stairs around 9:00 for breakfast.  I met with the manager first and we put closure to the situation.  He looked into it, reprimanded the security who didn’t let my taxi in, offered a late check out (6:00 PM) and free breakfast for all of us.

I love this shower.  I can wash / rinse both of my arm pits at the same time!

The food was ok.  I think i prefer food with chemicals and such.

We walked down town and went to the mall.  The architecture and building are amazing.

After the mall it was noon (11 PM back home).  We were tired and I attempted to nap for an hour.  My body was tired but my mind was zooming a million miles an hour and i couldn’t sleep.

We went to a stroll and ended up at a little out door mall and then walked back to our hotel.  it was called “souq waqif”.  Ok we walked part of the way back to the hotel.  Took a little boat ride and then walked the rest of the way back.

I’m not exactly sure what this sign means.  But we took it as “Walk this way.” so we did.

So we got back at 5:00 Pm from our walk, packed and move over to the St. Regis.  Why?  No clue but we did.  So we checked in.

So we were not impressed at all until we walked into our room.  “Mr. XXX since you are a platinum member we have upgraded you to our biggest suite the Presidentual Suite.  ”

I’m not sure if we are still jet lagged or if our suite just knocked us out!  it’s 6:00 and we all just want to crash!  So if we do anything tonight i’ll post it tomorrow.  Good night!
