AMERICAN AIRLINES ADMIRALS CLUB;
This was my first trip to the Admirals Club. My first visit was in Boston (my first lay over) and then in Miami (my second lay over). My experience with Airline lounges ranges from, Alaska Board Room, Delta Sky Club, United Red Carpet Club, Thai Airways Orchid Lounge, Cathay Pacific Lounge and then some defunct airline lounges. I do have to say that I was not as impressed with American’s lounge as I was with Delta Sky Club, although it wasn’t far off. Let me first say that no USA based airline lounge comes even remotely close to International airline lounges. The different between the two is like economy class verse flying a private jet.
First off, when I walked in they were unable to process my membership for some odd reason. Although the agent assisting me was courteous and helpful, she was just as frustrated as I was. She did allow me entry and stated she would keep trying and once she was aable to process my membership she would call me back to the front desk. This took about ½ and hour.
I proceeded to take my much needed shower. The shower was typical and clean. A fully tiled room, walls, floors and shower. There were no amenities except for cotton balls. They also provided generic shampoo and conditioner which is located on the wall of the shower. Nothing worth discussing but it worked. The towels were decent and fluffy.
There was a bar and you were able to order a limited amount of food for a cost. Much of the alcohol was free except for the premium drinks. I ordered a croissant with egg, cheese and bacon. It was worth ordering and cost me around $5.43. The atmosphere is quite old school with some needed upgrading. To me it seemed quite cramped.
The coffee was of a higher grade being that it was Nespresso and you had a choice of Coffee, Mocha’s, Espresso, etc. Available were also water, juices, soda’s and limited amount of light snacks.
