Boston Mass Transit

Traveling on a budget makes you find alternatives to many travel needs. This blog will talk about ground transportation specifically Boston’s subway system or the “T”. If your staying within the greater Boston area the T works fabulous.

You have two options, buy a Charlie card (like a credit card that you can reload) or a Charlie ticket (a paper ticket). A Charlie card will charge you $2.00 per ride and is rechargeable. A Charlie ticket will charge you $2.50.

The T is very easy to navigate and is fairly convenient from the airport. I managed to learn how to navigate the map and stations well. In my two trips to Boston I have experienced a very safe ride every time I have ridden the T.

Trains come often and are usually posted at the station. Each station has a navigation chart as to where that colored line goes and where the intersecting lines are at. I usually do not need to walk very far to a station.

Unless the city has very poor mass transit I try not to rent a car. the savings when traveling amount to more money to do activities that are more entertaining. Worst case scenario, if i get stuck somewhere I’ll simply catch a taxi to my destination.
