I rushed to the airport an hour before my flight to find technology failing me.. The checkin kiosk was running so slow. Yes I checked in on my phone but it said I must print my boarding pass off at the airport. Why? I have no clue but the computer is deciding to take a siesta. Pass printed bag checked, I head to security.

Ok you’ll hear me complain a lot in this blog. I very much dislike traveling with kids, near kids, or even around kids. Why? Mostly because of the parents. Imagine bringing your new born or 2 year old or even your 5 year old on a 4 hour cramped 30,000 ft air pressurized trip across the country world or even just a state. I don’t think parents think these things through.

Ok first off, when I get to security I eye whose in line. If you ever watched “Up In The Air” with George Clooney, you’ll know what I’m talking about! It’s so true. I look for which line has the least amount of children, families, elderly and new fliers (oh you can so point them out). I look for the Asian business travelers! Get the line with the least amount of the first list of people! Trust me you’ll get through so much faster.

Ok so there was two lines. One line had less children and less elderly. That was my line! It went so much faster than the other line and I zipped through in only 15 minutes compared to maybe 30.

After a tram ride an escalator climb and a track to my gate, I arrived in time to board. I don’t think I’ve ever cut it so close before!

I planned ahead. I took a Tylenol PM when parking my car. I got the exit row window seat and brought my neck pillow. I slept off and on for the 4 hour trip to Detroit. No it was not good sleep but it was sleep. Oh one more thing…. Bring headphone that you put in your ears, not just dangle. Because those parents that don’t think and decide to bring a newborn on a 4 hour trip and sit right behind you and scream bloody murder for the whole trip……. You won’t hear them! At one point I took my ear phones out and heard her kind of sternly and embarrassed say to the NEW BORN “STOP CRYING”! Really?????

Ok, we arrived at DTW airport and well like always we arrived at gate 8 and I’m departing at gate 78. How many gates are on this terminal? Well 78 of course… Now this being my first trip through DTW, I love it. But again this is a blog of complaints so let me describe the terminal lay out.

Yes this is a photo of the whole terminal from one end to the other.

Terminal A which I flew into and would be walking from one end to the other is a verily long straight concourse. Long! It has 78 gates designed for larger jets.. Terminal A is paralleled by concourse B/C (which really is one concourse but is divided into two. South end is B and north end is C). It’s about 60% as long as concourse A. And is connected via a tunnel at the middle. Similar to ATL but without the 7 terminals ATL has. Concourse A does have a tram that is pretty spiffy and will zip you from one end to the other in about 2 minutes. I chose to walk, just to have something to complain about.

I stopped for breakfast. Bacon, eggs, and toast. Oh water and coffee. It was $8.04 and service was so fast. I presume it’s because our flight was the only plane load of passengers at 6:00 AM!

I got to my gate plugged my phone in. Found a comfortable spot on the floor. Programmed my alarms and laid my head on my backpack. YES I slept on the floor for about 3 hours.and I’m not ashamed of it! I needed rest.

Ok I did find some entertainment which was very short lived! Yes scratch tickets!

Ok I did not get my first class upgrades on either of my flights. I’m bummed. However I am in the exit row which I love… A lot!

My flight from Detroit to Mexico City is filled with so many kids. What do the parents do to occupy their child’s time? Yeah you guessed it. They let them run up and down the isles! Oh my god, rude and annoying!!! I did not sleep. I connected to Internet, listened to music and surfed. I have drank coffee, diet coke and water. My meals consisted of pretzels and peanuts!

One response to “11/1-2 SEA-DTW-MEX”

  1. * Mexico City has the Xochimilco National Park, Bellas Artes Palace, National Museum of Anthropology, and The Historic Center.
The liberator was General Ignacio Allende, a home-town lad for whom de
Allende was tagged on to the town’s name. At last, if you are looking for a relaxing, romantic, and adventurous vacation, Mexico is the
ideal destination to experience these altogether.
